Meet the Doctors

Laila Malaki, D.M.D.

Laila Malaki is an Illinois native who graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago with a major in Biology and minor in Mathematics. She received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Midwestern University at Downers Grove in 2018. She then completed her Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical residency at John H. Stroger, Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, during the years of 2018-2022, where she trained extensively in dentoalveolar surgery, general anesthesia, temporomandibular joint disorders, trauma, and orthognathic surgery. Dr Malaki received her board certification and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Illinois Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Illinois State Dental Society.

Dr. Malaki has joined the practice with Dr. Morris and is excited to practice full scope Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. In her spare time, she enjoys baking, gathering with friends, and playing the drums, and currently resides in Chicago, IL with her husband, Mo, and cats, Samwise Gamgee and Bo.

George E. Morris, Jr., D.D.S.

Dr. George E. Morris, Jr. is a Champaign, Illinois native who graduated from University of Illinois  Urbana- Champaign with a major in  Biology in 1980. He received his Doctorate of Dental Science degree from University of Illinois Dental School-Chicago with honors in 1984.  He continued on and completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Residency at the U of I Chicago,  graduating in 1988.   He completed rotations in anesthesia, general surgery, emergency medicine, trauma, among others at Cook County Hospital, Westside VA and University of Illinois Hospital. Dr. Morris is a Diplomate, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (1992) and a Fellow, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (1992). He started the practice in Homewood in 1991.

Dr. Morris is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Illinois Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Illinois State Dental Society. He is past President of South Suburban Chicago Dental Society. He serves as a member of the Anesthesia Review Committee for AAOMS. He previously assisted in clinical education at Northwestern University Dental School and at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry. He donates services for PADs and Donated Dental Services to give back to the less fortunate.

While not in the office Dr. Morris can be found playing guitar, biking, or fishing.  Sports and music are high  on the entertainment list. Traveling is enjoyed in all forms, from canoeing the Boundary Waters to exploring Rome’s side streets.  He resides in Flossmoor with his wife, Denise, where they happily raised their three children, Matthew, Veronica and Madeline.
